Elections: Parties step up campaigns

Supporters of various political parties took Akure, the Ondo State capital by the jugular yesterday as they intensified their campaigns in what appeared to be a last minute rush to get votes.

The popular streets in the Akure Metropolis such as Arakale, Oke-Aro, Osinle, NEPA, Arakale, Hospital road, and many others were jam-packed with people campaigning for votes.

The campaign for the Saturday general elections by political parties such as the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party,, ZENITH Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, was intense.

Members of the various parties were seeing moving from one house to the other wooing the electorate, and canvassing for support.

Some were seen sharing, caps, vests, food stuff, including cash, wrapped in small white nylon used for packaging bread.

Akure, the Ondo State capital was in a total gridlock by the campaign trail of the major political parties trying to outwit one another.

It was a heinous task for motorists plying Oke-Aro, Osinle, and NEPA axis down to Arakale in the heart of the state capital.

Ajipowo axis of Ondo road, Aule/Ilesa road, Igoba Ado Ekiti road and others were not left out in the campaign struggle.

The political parties were on a door-to- door campaign to the electorate canvassing for their votes and telling the people why they should vote for their candidates.
