Electorate express satisfaction over poll’s conduct

Electorate in Akure have expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s State House of Assembly election in Ondo State.

They commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for improving on the electoral process and ensuring electoral materials arrived their various polling units on time.

The Hope gathered that the voting materials arrived the various polling booth early and voting commenced at 8:10am at Oda town, in Akure South Local Government area of the State.

The Saturday’s election in the town witnessed low turn-out of voters as there was only133 accredited voters at polling unit 005 St James Anglican High School, Oda compared to the total of 650 registered voters in the unit.

At the polling unit 006 Ogbe High School,Oda,158 voters were accredited against the 680 registered voters in the unit.

The election witnessed heavy security just as the men of the Nigeria Army and Custom Service patrolled the town to maintain law and order

Speaking with The Hope, a voter , Mr. Taye Adebayo said the earlier arrival of the voting materials was impressive which he noted brought about earlier commencement of voting at Polling Unit 005 at St James Anglican High School, Oda where he cast his vote.

He expressed his pleasure over the effectiveness of card reader in the unit for easy recognition of every registered voters at the unit.

Also, Mrs. Folukemi IIesanmi expressed pleasure over the peaceful conduct of the election,noting that the electoral materials arrived on time for people to exercise their franchise.

llesanmi, who cast her vote at polling unit 006 Ogbe High School, Oda said the election was free of rancour to enable electorate to vote.
