Electricity consumer on trial for beating IBEDC staff

A 24-year-old man, Abiola AbduSalam, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly beating an official of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

 The police prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, informed the court that the accused person attacked one Kemisola Oladepo  who was distributing electricity bill at Dada Estate area in Osogbo.

He explained that the accused person beat the IBEDC official with slippers to the extent that she sustained injury on her right finger.

 AbduSalam was alleged to have committed the offence on May 4, 2020 around 12pm, contrary to section 355 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

 The accused person pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of assault occasioning harm preferred against him by the police.

His lawyer, Mr. Funsho Muritala, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term, promising that he would stand his trial if admitted to bail.

 Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, granted the accused person N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case to June 9, 2020 for hearing.
