The Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Dr. Hon. Omoyele Isaac Adekunle, has assured residents of the agency’s readiness to ensure peace and security during the yuletide season.
To this end, all tactical squads and adequate personnel have been deployed to tighten security in identified black spots across the state.
He warned those with criminal intent to reconsider or be ready to face the full weight of the law.
Dr. Omoyele spoke to journalists about the agency’s readiness to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the people in Osogbo, the state capital, and its environs.
He emphasized the Corps’ commitment to maintaining law and order, especially during this festive period when heightened activities often lead to increased security concerns.
He highlighted the proactive measures the Amotekun Corps will implement to ensure a safe environment for all residents and visitors, including effective and proactive surveillance and patrol.
The Amotekun boss urged community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. He reassured the public that the Amotekun Corps is well-prepared and equipped to handle any challenges that may arise.
The Corps Commander also called for collaboration between the Amotekun Corps and the community, emphasizing that public cooperation is essential in fostering a secure atmosphere for everyone.
He expressed confidence that, with joint efforts, the yuletide season can be enjoyed in peace and harmony, urging law-abiding citizens to report strange faces within their respective domains.
“Residents are encouraged to participate in community safety initiatives and to be proactive in safeguarding their neighbourhoods. Effective crime detection and prevention is the responsibility of all and sundry.
“You must be alert in your respective areas and be security-conscious. Report any strange or suspicious movement of suspected individuals to appropriate security agencies for prompt action.”
Dr. Omoyele reiterated that the Amotekun Corps is dedicated to its mission of peacekeeping and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of all in Osun State.
The commander, however, appealed to residents to be security-conscious at all times, adding that intensive patrols have begun and will continue before, during, and after the celebrations of Christmas and New Year.
