Toward ensuring that Corps members become employers of labour, they have been urged to embrace entrepreneurship skills during their service year.

The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Adegoke Ayodele gave the charge during the opening ceremony of the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede.

Ayodele said the SAED programme was introduced for graduates to learn skills, be self-reliant and become employers of labour.

While decrying the rate of unemployment in the country, he said the programme was initiated to build capacity of corps members to enable them gain the required entrepreneurship and hands-on skills to cope with the challenges of unemployment in the global economy.

Ayodele stressed that the objective of the SAED programme was to assist corps members cultivate the culture of entrepreneurship and income generation practices.

The NYSC boss said it was also to create wealth from the situation around them and to gain technical assistance in job search among others.

Ayodele said the SAED programme would afford corps members the opportunity of being economically active as entrepreneurs or be self-employed in their own businesses, rather than seeking elusive paid employment.

He said a 30-hour period in nine days had been dedicated to SAED training for corps members during their 21 days in-camp orientation.

The coordinator said that business skills like Agro-Allied, Cosmetology, Automobile, construction, beautification among others would be taught.
