With the declaration of a state of emergency on agriculture in Nigeria by the Federal government, the Alafin of Afin Akoko in Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo State, Oba (Professor) AbduRaheem Mustapha Adejoro, has called on all able bodied Nigerians to rise up and embrace farming to boost food production in the country.
Oba Adejoro made the call in a chat with The Hope on Thursday.
The Alafin posited that abudant food production will reduce hunger and poverty while export trades will boost the economy.
The monarch also appealed to youths to shun all nefarious activities and involve in gainful ventures that will transform their living standards.
He, however, called on government to do more on security and the provision of agricultural inputs cum motorable rural roads that will enable farmers to evacuate their products to the marketing centres.
