Muslims in the Ondo North Senatorial District yesterday joined their counterparts all over the world to celebrate the Eidel-Kabir festival.

Eid-El-Kabir or Eidel-Adha is the Muslims festival commemorating the call of God on Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac.

The muslims who were apparently in celebrating mood, dressed in their attires, trooped to their various praying grounds to offer prayers to Allah.

In Ikare Akoko, the Chief Imam of Ikare Land, Sheikh (Alhaji) Abbas Abubakr led the prayers while the President of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas who is also the Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh(Alhaji Ahmad Aladesawe led Muslims at the Eid praying ground in Owo to observe the eid prayers.

In his sermon, Alhaji Aladesawe charged Nigerians to fear God in all what they do saying the country is in its present position because the fear of God is missing.

The Chief Imam who said the fear of God is the key to solving the country’s problems posited that despite the fact that the country is richly endowed by nature, the country is still wallowing in abject poverty due to our own making.

“Nigeria is in her present position today because we do not fear God. The country is richly endowed by nature but we are still poor. No matter how long we pray, now matter the preachings, as long as we don’t fear God there will be no good result”

He also identified the absence of genuine love as one of the reasons the country is not getting it right both economically and politically.

Alhaji Aladesawe disclosed that Nigeria is having two major problems militating against its development.

According to him, the problem of leadership and the followers constitute the only impediment to the nation’s growth.

He therefore called on the people to pray for the country and support the government in its effort to position the country in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Aladesawe has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts at bringing good governance to the people.

Similarly the Chairman of Owo Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Omoluka has enjoined Muslims to emulate Prophet Ibrahim who obeyed God by offering to sacrifice his son

Omoluka said the lessons of the Eldel-Kabir celebration is that we should be ready to sacrifice our efforts for the betterment of our fellow human beings.
