Embrace skills for tech advancement

Students have been urged to embrace employability skills in order to align themselves with technological advancements.
The president of NASRU -LAHI-L- Fatiu Society (NASFAT), Mr Olaniyi Yusuf gave the advice during a workshop for Students of Fountain University in Osogbo.
Yusuf said the workshop is aimed at preparing youths for the task ahead due to the continuous advancement in technology.
“The workshop would help youths to know how technology is really influencing work and also the systematic changes which they must work with and how they would also explore the benefits.”
According to him, education system in Nigeria was not in conformity with the present educational realities due to some challenges that needed urgent attention.
“The curriculum in tertiary institutions is not in conformity with what the industry requires and the need for total overhauling of the entire process must be considered.
“What you don’t have, you cannot give and that is the reason why we need to invest in training and retraining of teachers and also ensuring that students embraced the Industrial Training exercise set aside to gain more experience”.
The NASFAT boss who noted that the second phase of the workshop in Osun state carries along Oyo and Ekiti states respectively and the next phase of the workshop would be held across the North-western part of the country in Abuja.
The Guest Speaker, Mr Abideen Olasupo, who spoke on the theme “The Future of Work, are you ready” said thousands of muslims youths finds themselves out of tertiary institution but never have the critetial to getting their dream jobs.
“The future of work in Nigeria kept changing and the need for muslim youths to get themselves accustomed to different skills was paramount.
“This is why we are introducing them to acquirable skills such as digital training among some machine tools which would serve as benefits for them.
” For those who are already in business, there is also the need for them to have a unique value proposition and a subject of moral and integrity,”he said.
Olasupo appealed to muslim youths and students of Fountain University to embrace employability and empowerment skills in ordered to stand out among other graduates of their equals in Knowledge and skills.
