Employee docked over N1m theft

For stealing N1million belonging to a Microfinance company,  a 36-year-old employee , Ayobami Jacob, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court.

The accused person allegedly committed the offence on July 26, 2021 at Ondo city.

Ayobami, who is standing trial on two counts, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against her.

The police prosecutor, Adeoye Adesegun told the court that the accused person allegedly stole N1,115,950 of one Olosunde Temitope.

The offences contravene Sections 388 and 390(6) of the Criminal Code Cap, 37. Volume 1Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

Counsel to the defendant, Ogboye Kayode prayed the court to admit his client to bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate Olanipekun Mayomi, in his ruling, granted the defendant bail in the sum of M500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till May 20, 2022 for hearing.
