The Deputy Chairman of Owo Local Government area of Ondo State, Ibrahim Hammed has urged residents of Emure-Ile to unite in the fight against rising insecurity.

He made the call during the inauguration of the Nigerian Forest Security Services (NFSS) Divisional Headquarters building in the community.

Hammed stressed the need for collaboration between citizens and government authorities to strengthen the security of lives and property.

“As someone from this community, I am fully committed to supporting initiatives that ensure our safety.

“Our local government, under the leadership of Hon. Tope Omolayo, is actively working to overcome the current security challenges.” he said

In his address, Corps Commander Olugbenga Emmanuel, the NFSS head in Ondo State, encouraged cooperation with other security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force.

“Our goal is to complement the efforts of the police by providing critical intelligence from the forests. We are not in competition but here to offer support,” he said.

The Divisional Police Officer of Emure-Ile, Supol Olowoyo Akinbode, praised the legislative backing of the NFSS through the newly passed bill, noting that it would enhance local security efforts and reduce the burden on the police.

He added, “Security is everyone’s business. We will stand by this new outfit and work hand-in-hand to ensure the safety of our people.”

During the event, Tope Fabuluje, a respected son of the soil, was officially appointed as the Divisional Forest Officer of the newly established unit of NFSS

Traditional leaders, youth representatives, and members of the local landlords’ and tenants’ association were also in attendance at the ceremony.
