Encomiums as Pastor Mrs . Adeyemo is laid to rest

Pastor (Mrs) Dorcas Kikelomo Adeyemo, who passed away at the age of 78 a few weeks ago, was laid to rest in Akure over the weekend in a ceremony attended by friends, family, and well-wishers.
The burial rites began on Thursday with a wake-keep service at her residence in Akure, where attendees were urged to examine their lives and seize the opportunity to re-write their stories.
The late Pastor Adeyemo’s husband led the dust-to-dust rite.
The funeral service took place on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the CAC Oke Itura Akure Headquarters, where Assistant General Superintendent Pastor Ezekiel Sunday Ariyo delivered a sermon.
He called on the congregation to ensure their lives reflect Christlike behaviour, just as Mama Adeyemo had exemplified during her lifetime.
Pastor Ariyo described Mama Adeyemo as a righteous woman who served God faithfully until her last day.
He commended her dedication and service to God, noting that her life was a testimony of faith.
The children of the deceased, Mrs Alabi Titilayo, Adeyemo Babajide, Adeyemo Oluwafemi, Adeyemo Olumide, and Adeyemo Opeyemi participated in the dust-to-dust rite, paying tributes to their mother for her integrity, honesty, and remarkable contributions to the community, particularly during the time she was selling soap at Oja Oba market in Akure
“Mama Adeyemo lived a life worthy of emulation,” the clergy said. “For over 25 years, she served as assistant vice president of the Ogbomosho Parapo, Akure Women’s Wing. In 2001, she was elevated to president of the organisation. She was also a member of the Lady Dynamic Club, Akure, and the Provision’s Club at Oja Oba market.”
One church leader described her as “an epitome of honesty and integrity.”
The Association of Iya Oloja in Ondo State also paid their respects.
In his remarks, Pastor Ariyo prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, offering words of comfort to her family.
He reminded them that Mama Adeyemo lived for Christ and encouraged them to follow her virtuous example.
Describing her as a God-fearing, hardworking and enterprising, and sacrificial woman, Pastor Ariyo highlighted Mama Adeyemo’s gratitude towards both God and the people.
Born on May 9, 1947, Madam Dorcas began her career as a trader in the old Western State and gained prominence through her sales of Gold Coast products in 1950.
The burial ceremony was attended by familymembers, friends, and well-wishers, both from within Nigeria and abroad, who came to celebrate a life well-lived.
