The Chairman, Social Demoratic Party, SDP, in Ondo State, Chief Korede Duyile has said that the endorsement of the Presidential Candidate of People’s Democratic Party PDP, by the conference of Union of Political Party (CUPP), has failed for not following laid down process.
Duyile, made this disclosure in an interview with The Hope in Akure, yesterday.
He explained that lack of sincerity in the process would not make things work as expected among the members of the coalition.
It would be recalled that SDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Mohammed Alfa who also said the party was not part of the endorsement said the party already has a candidate, Mr Donald Duke whose name had been submitted to INEC for the 2019 election.
On the development, no fewer than three political parties as members of the loose CUPP,which include Kowa, GDPN and SDP have dissociated themselves from the reported endorsement of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Duyile who noted that SDP and PDP as the pioneer members of the coalition before other parties were invited said that the SDP as a party insisted on the need for the already set up process to be followed.
His words” Initially, the coalition was mainly between PDP and SDP before we invited other parties.
“What we are saying that a process was set up and it was not followed and it has not been followed till now. If the process is followed it will be okay.
“It is just like a relationship without sincerity and such relationship will not work. There is no sincerity in the whole process, once it is there the coalition will work.”
Duyile, therefore, said that the National Working Committee of the SDP will meet this week to take position on the issue.
