A 36-year-old engineer, Azuh Emeka, has been dragged before an Ondo Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly entering into the warehouse of one Chief Folaremi Agunbiade and stole items worth N2,580,000.
He was also alleged to have stolen three monkey jackets valued at N1,500, one disk and clutch valued at N30,000, one wind cover plate valued at N250,000, wind chart valued at N800,000 total valued at N2,580,000 property of Chief Folaremi Agunbiade.
The defendant was brought before Chief Magistrate Charity Adeyanju, on a two-count charge of illegal entry and stealing.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offences on March 27, 2023 at about 5 am at Otuloka sawmill in Oka, Ondo.
The alleged offences were said to be contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Sections 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Inspector Bernard Olagbayi, told the court that he would call three witnesses to testify in the case. He asked for a date to study the case file.
Lawyer for the defendant, Mr Timi Yayu, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application. But he applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal term.
In his ruling, Adeyanju granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till July 27, 2023 for hearing.
