‘Enrol your children in schools you can afford’
By Bukola Olamona
Parents have been called upon to drop the status symbol syndrome of putting their children in private schools which they could not afford.
Making this call was the Principal, of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, Chief Temitope Ojo in an interview with The Hope.
He stated that most parents like to show to their friends that their children are in popular private schools, so as to boost their status.
Ojo who said the worst public school is the best private school, noted that there are so many private schools springing up which are not interested in the society but in their pockets.
He said most private schools do not have qualified teachers, thereby exposing students to dangers of education.
”Most of their teachers for Mathematics are those that studied Engineering and their English teachers are those that studied History and other allied courses,’ he said.
He noted that many private schools are hub of examination malpractices and other vices, and that their teachers are not teachers, but cheaters”.
