Directors of Finance and Supplies in Ondo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) have been implored to ensure proper record keeping and judicious use of funds at their disposal.

Chairman of the commission, Mr Femi Idris stated this while declaring open a one-day capacity building workshop for Directors of Finance and Supplies in the service, with the theme: “Leadership Revenue Generation and Management for Effective Service Delivery at the local government level.”

He charged participants to prove their worth in their respective duty posts by exhibiting good leadership style which could bring  improved revenue generation as well as proper management of resources allocated to the local government.

He disclosed that the aim of the training was to reiterate the essence of leadership and style as a means to revenue generation.

The LGSC boss added that the workshop will afford Directors of Finance and Supplies in the 18 local government areas the opportunity to improve their leadership skills in the management of their departments with particular focus on revenue generation.

He said: “the Directors in the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) will be able to understand the modus operandi of the new position they are occupying”.

According to him, “the commission is not unaware of the dearth of officers in the local government service occasioned by not only retirement, but other auxiliary matters like the creation of LCDAs and many who have left seeking greener pastures.

“On our part, we shall continue to strive towards redeeming this situation with God on our side, apart from workshop/conferences, the commission is currently conducting extended interviews for intending Administrative officers while other departments conversion will follow soon.”
