Environment commissioner harps on staff commitment

Commissioner for Environment, Mr Oyeniyi Oseni has called for cooperation and support from staff of the Ministry and relevant Departments and Agencies in order to achieve the ambition of the state environment sector.

He made the call while addressing the staff during a welcome meeting for the Commissioner organized by the Ministry in his office on Monday.

According to him, the environment sector can only be improved on with staff commitment which would help in achieving great success especially in changing the face of the state.

Expressing appreciation to the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the privilege given him to serve the state, he stated that it is important that the staff put in their best in ensuring that the state becomes an organized one adding that available structures will be considered for effective implementation.

He said that the administration is set to give priority to the Ayetoro crisis which according to him was taken with passion by the late Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Oseni revealed that tree planting will be part of immediate action along the major roads saying “it will reflect more sustainable and civilized community.”

He hinted that fight against plastic pollution will be sustained adding that monitoring activities will be improved on especially with the deployment of simple technology.

The Commissioner assured of effective communication among the environment family in order to take the mandate of core areas so as to give directive to partners.

However, he thanked the leadership of the Ministry for the warm reception assuring them of good working relationship.

In his welcome address, Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Omotayo Akeju pledged staff commitment and loyalty to the new government stating that they are willing and ready to be on the go.

Acting Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency, OSEPA, Princess Bosede Giwa noted that the state will benefit alot with the Commissioner in place and pledged the Agency ‘support for the commissioner.

General Manager, Ondo State Waste Management Authority, Mr. Fola Omowole while describing Oseni as a real practitioner said that residents should hope for a new turn around in the environment sector saying “we are looking forward to have a wonderful time in the sector.”

State Coordinator, Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project NEWMAP/EIB, Mr. Wole Olafisoye while congratulating him said that with Oseni in place, it is an era of a new dawn in the environment sector.
