Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has declared that the era of data falsification by health workers in polio eradication and routine immunisation in Ondo State has gone for good.

Akeredolu made the assertion during the first State Task Force meeting on Polio eradication and Routine Immunisation for 2019 held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, in Akure.

He explained that the honest attitude of rebranded primary healthcare workers towards routine immunisation services across the 18 local government areas had begun to yield fruits.

The Governor further said his administration was committed to improving working conditions of health workers to boost their morale towards polio-eradication, and improving routine immunisation.

According to Akeredolu, the morale booster became necessary as a responsible and responsive government which had recently employed hundreds of health workers for secondary facilities managed by the State Hospitals’ Management Board, despite lean resources.

Akeredolu who charged traditional rulers to always talk about the importance of immunization to community members during important community events, also enjoined religious leaders to continually preach the gospel of immunization to their congregation during and after services to orientate them and dispel immunization myths.

Arakunrin Akeredolu however assured that all Primary Health Care Centres in all the 18 local government areas of the state would be totally renovated and equipped with modern equipment in order to continue delivering quality healthcare services to the people of the state.
