Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the deadly attacks on the Ido Ayegunle community, which reportedly claimed lives and destroyed property.
Strongly condemning the violence, the governor directed all state security agencies to urgently apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.
“Those behind this heinous incident, no matter how highly placed or influential in society, must be brought to justice,” he declared.
The governor’s reaction was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Monday.
Describing the attack and the killing of innocent people as “unacceptable,” Adeleke expressed shock at the brazen violence.
He commended security agencies for swiftly arresting and detaining several attackers while urging them to go further by identifying and apprehending the masterminds behind the incident.
Governor Adeleke also dismissed allegations of irregularities in the appointment of the new Olojudo of the community, clarifying that the traditional ruler had been an elevated Part Two Oba since 2014.
He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring that those responsible for the unrest face the full wrath of the law.
Furthermore, the governor directed the Commissioner of Police to expand the investigation to uncover the sponsors of the attack.
“I call on residents to remain calm. Security agencies are already rounding up the perpetrators of this violence. The culprits will face justice,” Adeleke assured.
