A 39-year old inmate, Kabiru Oyedun, who escaped from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos.
Oyedun, who was among seven inmates that escaped during a heavy downpour on Tuesday, was arrested at about 5:35 p.m. on May 21 in the Oshin-Welder area of Ayobo, Lagos.
The arrest, according to reports from the Zone 2 Police Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, was made possible following a tip-off from members of the public.
Acting on the intelligence, a team of detectives was swiftly mobilised to the location, where the fugitive was apprehended without resistance.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian Correctional Service had earlier placed a N5 million bounty on each of the escapees, promising the reward to anyone who provided credible information that would lead to their arrest.
