Ex-convict in court for burglary

A 26-year-old man, James Peter, has appeared before an Akure Magistrate Court sitting in Oke-Eda, for alleged house breaking and stealing property worth N2,304,500.

Peter was arraigned by the police on four-count of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adeyemi, the defendant committed the offence on October 16, 2023 at about 8pm at Block 56, Plot 5, Oba-Ile Housing Estate, Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State.

Adeyemi said Peter, with others at large broke into the dwelling house of one Mrs Margret Omogbemi and stole some items which include, three laptops with charger, one Techo phone with charger, NIKON 750 lens with 35G, and one camera.

The defendant was also alleged to be in possession of some items suspected to be stolen, which include five UBA ATM and MTN Limo system box, solar light led street light, 13 bunches of key, ATM cards, one dagger, among others.

The offences contravene Sections 516, 390(9)and 428 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.

 But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the offences leveled against him.

Magistrate Mayowa Idowu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned to December 27, 2023, for hearing.
