An Akure Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of three men over the alleged theft of a Bajaj motorcycle and 50 goats valued at N3million.
The defendants Ogunsan Babatunde, Moses Sunday, and Folorunsho Adewale, were arraigned before the court by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps.
The Prosecutor, Segun Akeredolu, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in September 2025 at Ore, in the Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State.
According to the charge, the defendants and others still at large are facing a three-count charge bordering on stealing.
Akeredolu alleged that on or about September 2, 2025, at Omi Kelekele Camp, Ofosu, in the Odigbo Local Government area, the defendants stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N1 million, property of one Aliu Fatah.
In another instance, he said that between August and September 2025, along the Lagos–Benin Expressway in Ore, Odigbo Local Government area, the defendants stole 50 goats valued at N2 million, belonging to one Gabriel Bola.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 383, 390(9), and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Akeredolu informed the court that witnesses were ready and sought an adjournment to enable a review of the case file.
Counsel to the defendants, Kehinde Osadugba, urged the court to grant bail on lenient terms, assuring that his clients would not evade trial and would provide credible sureties.
In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties each in like sum.
He added that the sureties must submit affidavits of means, provide two passport photographs each (of both the sureties and the defendants) and show evidence of gainful employment attached to the bail bond.
The magistrate further ordered that the sureties deposit N250,000 each as bond, payable into the High Court Registry for the complainant’s benefit and directed court officials to verify their addresses.
However, the defendants were remanded in the custody of the Amotekun Corps after failing to meet their bail conditions.
The case was adjourned till November 24, 2025, for hearing.
