Ex-LG boss stabbed to death in son’s residence

A former Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad Wabi, has been gruesomely murdered in his son’s residence located in the Fadaman Mada area of the state.

The tragic incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, was confirmed by the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement issued on May 2, 2025.

According to the police spokesperson, the 66-year-old ex-council boss was fatally attacked by individuals reportedly known to his 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Muhammad.

SP Wakil disclosed that the Command received a distress call around 4:03 a.m. from a concerned resident who reported an ongoing violent attack involving a group of youths in the Fadaman Mada axis, specifically behind the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bauchi.

“In response to the call, our operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they found the former chairman, Mr. Isa Muhammad Wabi, in a critical state, having sustained severe injuries from the assault,” Wakil said.

He added that Wabi was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that two suspects, identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir, alias Abba, and Faruk Malami, also known as Ajebo, unlawfully gained access to the residence around 3 a.m. and conspired to launch the deadly assault on Wabi.

The former LG boss reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds, particularly to the neck, which led to his demise despite urgent medical attention.

SP Wakil revealed that one of the assailants, Faruk Malami (Ajebo), was found unconscious at the scene of the crime, possibly as a result of retaliatory efforts during the attack. He has since been taken into custody along with the deceased’s son, Abdulgafar, who is currently being interrogated to aid ongoing investigations.
