For hours last Friday, the Caretaker Chairman, Ese Odo Local Government, Mr. Ojo Omolewa and some local government workers were held hostage by suspected ex -militants.
According to an eye witness, some of the disarmed militants led by three ex- generals came from nowhere and locked the secretariat main gate against the chairman and local government workers who had earlier gathered for a meeting.
The ex-militants were led by General Bowel Felix, General Akpondiwon George and General David Eddy.
It was gathered by our correspondent that the ex -militants were angry with the failure of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) to integrate them into the amnesty scheme after successfully laying down their guns during the State amnesty programme.
It however took the intervention of His Imperial Majesty, the Kalasuwe of Apoi Land, Oba (Prof) Sunday Amuseghen before peace and normalcy could be returned to the area.
While speaking with The Hope, the council chairman described the incident as very unfortunate and an attempt by some disgruntled elements within the system who were determined to sabotage the efforts of the government.
He therefore appealed to the ex -militants to exercise patience with the government as efforts were already in place to integrate them into the amnesty scheme.
