Ex- Ondo guber aspirant, Akinjo dumps PDP

By Jubril Bada

Former gubernatorial aspirant and ex-member of the House of Representatives, Kolade Akinjo, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Akinjo, who represented the Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency in the National Assembly until 2023 and was the first runner-up in the 2024 PDP governorship primary, made his decision known through a resignation letter addressed to the ward chairman of the party in Mahin Ward 4, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He said, “I submit my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective Sunday August 11, 2024, marking the culmination of a remarkable journey and the beginning of a new chapter.”

The decision, he said, was taken after introspective consultations with his trusted allies, supporters, and confidants, adding that he had resolved to relinquish his membership and was poised to explore new horizons and embark on a fresh journey.

The letter read, “My decision is a personal epiphany, born from a desire to explore uncharted territories and embrace novel challenges.

“I express profound gratitude to the party’s leadership for the privilege of serving in various capacities, notably as a two-term member of the House of Representatives, where I served with unwavering dedication.

“As I reflect on my tenure, I am reminded of the countless moments of triumph, camaraderie, and patriotic fervour. I cherish the relationships forged, the battles fought, and the victories won. My heart swells with pride, knowing that our collective efforts helped shape the party’s legacy.

“With a sense of fulfilment, I take my leave, carrying with me the memories, lessons, and experiences garnered during my sojourn.

“May our shared values remain a guiding force, inspiring future generations to strive for excellence.”
