Ex-Owena Press intern, ‘Ologbon’, emerges 22nd AAUASU President-elect

One of the immediate past interns of Owena Press Limited, Akeem Salami, popularly known as Ologbon, has emerged as the 22nd Students’ Union President of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

The keenly contested election was held at the university on Friday, February 28, 2025.
As announced by the returning officer, Professor Simeon Odion Ehiabhi, Salami, a 400-level student from the Department of Arts Education, secured a total of 911 votes to defeat the other contestants: Elijah Segun (557 votes), Ogundaisi Samuel (126 votes), and Alfred Mosebolatan (62 votes).

Other newly elected AAUASU leaders are Olaleye Deborah (Vice President), Bakare Jamiu Abiodun (Secretary-General), Olayemi Princess (Assistant Secretary), Mercy Iyanuoluwa (Financial Secretary), Ajidagba Mosadoluwa Akinbobola (Public Relations Officer), Ogunsola Blessing (Director of Welfare), Adesuyan Rotimi (Social Director), Solomon Vincent (Treasurer), and Raji Afeez (Director of Sports).

Reacting to his victory, Ologbon attributed all glory to God for making his track record of student advocacy and commitment to progressive leadership count in his favour.

The PRO of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NASS) promised to prioritise AAUA students’ welfare, introduce innovations, embrace accountability, and facilitate a conducive learning environment on campus.

Quoting Andrew Carnegie, he said, “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or to get all the credit for doing it.”

“I recognise that leadership is a collective effort, and I humbly seek your (AAUA students’) support.
