The Commissioner in charge of the newly created Ministry of Energy, Mine and Mineral Resources, Engineer Razaq Obe, has vowed to bring his years of experience in oil and gas industry to do things differently .

Equally, he was ready to move quickly to ensure rural electrification as well as renewable energy was brought to the front row for sustainable socio-economic development of the state.

Obe disclosed this while speaking with The Hope at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, on his plans for the newly created ministry.

He revealed that the ministry has so much on the radar to ensure things move quickly in line with element 7 in the REDEEMED agenda of Governor Akeredolu led administration, which is Energy, Mining and Sustainable Industries.

According to him, everything necessary must be done to drive the REDEEMED agenda to fruition, adding that all hands must be on deck as the state cannot afford to miss the opportunity to progress.

Obe particularly appreciated Governor Akeredolu for deeming it necessary to do something differently, and for appointing young minds like him into his Cabinet.
He promised to ensure many good things come from the brand new ministry for the overall development of the State.

“We have so many things in the pipeline that the platform is going to provide the opportunity to implement. We are going to remerging our oil and gas exploration, exploitation in the state. We are going to look at all the possibilities in our oil blocs.

“Beyond that, the scope also include the electricity. In December 2020, Ondo State passed the Electricity Sector Law and that has changed how we provide electricity or power solution in Ondo State, especially looking at the Concurrent List, and where the National Grid does not cover each state has the responsibility to provide the electricity.

“You know some parts of Ondo State have been suffering from blackouts overtime, and we are going to do everything necessary to ensure that rural electrification is brought to the front row. Not just that, we live in a time where carbon print must be reduced at all cost.

“So, we are looking at renewable energy. Not just consume energy now, we must consume the same safely to save our planet and to save humanity”, the Commissioner stressed.
