Expert advises farmers on soil test

Ondo state Farmers have been implored to conduct a soil fertility test for good cropping to ensure food sufficiency and sustainability.
The technical Officer of East West seed International Mr Ilawole Taiwo said farmers should test their land soil know the soil BH so that they can do more farming of crops where they have comparative advantages in their community.
He explained that soil texture is different from one location to the other hence agricultural produce that will be accommodating at a location may not be accommodated in another area or locality.
He noted that farmers have been introduced to farming technology and some tips to farming recommending the hybrid seeds which where lot of work is done to suit the climatic environment of the new seed.
The seeds he observed have being doing great as he applauded Ondo state for doing great in the rate it has adopted in technology.
While declaring that farmers needs a little of assistance to meet the expected target in food security , he urged government to open more seed laboratory where soil test could be carried out at a highly subsequently subsidized rate.
” The soil laboratories across the state are individually owned and very expensive for the farmers to patronise, government should build more laboratory to help cost the expenses for farmers easy access. He said.
Speaking with The Hope, a beneficiary farmer who simply gave is name as Micheal appreciated the gesture for training farmers on technology seeking more of it.
He noted that the training will gradually increase their knowledge which will have drastic effect on crops production in the agricultural sector.
