Expert harps on importance of child immunisation in Akoko

The Officer in Charge of Agbaluku Basic Health Centre in Arigidi, Akoko North West Local Government area of Ondo State, Modupe Olowoyeye has urged parents to prioritise immunisation of their children  to protect them   from various infectious diseases.

The health practitioner who spoke with The Hope in an interview, stressed the importance of the immunisation exercise, particularly in reducing childhood mortality and preventing the spread of contagious diseases such as polio, measles, and whooping cough.

Olowoyeye stated that  “Immunisation is one of the most effective ways to protect our children. It is vital not only for the health of the individual child but also for the collective well-being of the community.

“By taking part in this exercise, we are securing a healthier and safer future for our children.”

She further highlighted that the immunisation services were provided free of charge, ensuring that every child in the region had access to the vaccines, regardless of their financial status.

“I am grateful to the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency for their continuous support in making these services available without any cost to the families.

“It is crucial that every parent understands the value of this opportunity to protect their children,” Olowoyeye added.

As health officials move around for immunisation, Olowoyeye commended the collaborative effort, noting that the exercise was significant step towards reducing childhood diseases and improving public health in the area.

The recent child immunisation exercise across Akokoland saw a massive turnout, with parents and caregivers in communities such as Arigidi, Okeagbe, Afin, Oyin, Akungba, Oka, and Isua applauded the health scheme.
