Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has condoled with his Oyo State counterpart, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the people of Oyo State over the tragic explosion that rocked Ibadan on Tuesday night.
Aiyedatiwa, in a condolence message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, regretted that the wanton loss of lives and the destruction of property was due to neglect and criminality.
The governor sympathized with the people and government of Oyo State over the unfortunate explosion that has claimed three lives and left scores injured in the State capital.
While sympathizing with the relatives of those who lost their lives as well as those who lost their properties, the governor urged support for the government and security agencies to unravel the perpetrators of the heinous crime against humanity, saying such criminal acts must not go unpunished.
Aiyedatiwa, who pledged the support of the government of Ondo State to the people of Oyo State as they deal with the aftermath of the unfortunate incident, urged the officers of the Amotekun security agency in the state to extend support to their Oyo State counterparts at this critical period.
The Governor offers prayers for peace and stability in Oyo State, the South West, and the entire country.
Also, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organisation, Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, has expressed shock over the devastating explosion.
The elder statesman called on the Federal and State Governments to ensure that such does not happen again.
He stated this in a condolence message to the families of the victims, the government of Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole, saying, “What happened in Ibadan on Tuesday night was not for the victims’ families or Ibadan residents alone, as some of the victims were from different parts of Nigeria and perhaps from outside the country.”
In the condolence message issued by the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Pa Fasoranti said he deeply felt for the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident and prayed that the injured get well as quickly as possible.
