Expose potentials of special children, ODSG urges

Parents of special children have been advised not to hide the potentials of their wards in the house.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was represented by his Special adviser on special people in Mrs Folashade Arise gave the advice during the 5th Inter-House Sports Competition of the school for the hearing impaired in Akure, the state capital.
Akeredolu added that parents should know that there is ability in disability, adding that people with disability have their own God gifted talents.
He emphasised that they should not hide them in the house, they should believe they can do it too.
“These Sports girls and boys have demonstrated an uncommon talents through different events, these raw talents must not be allowed to rot away.”
Earlier the Principal of the School, Dr (Mrs) Olaniyi Victoria urged parents not to stop any of their Children who are interested in Sports, because it’s good for them.
According to her, “Psychologically it will assist them, economically sporting activity has now become a cash flow.
“All we need to do is to encourage the children to bring out their potential talents in sporting activities, it will assist them in all ramifications”
She added “that through sporting activities kids can become self reliants, so I will advice their parents or the guidance to assist their children that are in love with sports and not be deterred because of their condition”.
“She used the medium to appeal to the government to assist the School and the public to encourage those that are still in their home to bring their children to school to learn.
Let them come to School to study and take part in sporting activities, we also implored the government to help us to repair some of our infrastructural amenities”.
Princess Adesola Ebiseni, added “that what happened here today is great , look at the way those that cannot hear, speak, were dancing to the Glory of God. Their parents must stand with them in order for them to excel in their choice of sports.
Yellow (tagged Princess Ebiseni house)emerged overall winner of the competition with 250 points, while Green (tagged PTA house ) came second with 218 points, Red and Blue house tagged Amapetu and Olaniyi house came third and fourth with 195, 193 points respectively.
LA1 and LA4 primary School Akure came 1st and 2nd in the invited Schools competitions.
The Sports event was not without the cultural display by the School for the visually impaired, Owo and Wheel Chair displayed by the School for the Physically challenge, Ikare and hundred meters race by the School for the intellectual Impaired, Oke-Igbo.
Present at the event were the regent of Oda, Princess Adeyinka Akosile, Princess Adesola Ebiseni, Sheik(Dr)Abdulhakeem Adekunle Yayi – Akorede, the Chief Imam of Akure. representative of C.E.O NAO Supermarket, Mr Metta Chris , Representative of Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prince Oye Ayikun and host of others.
