FA Cup: Sunshine Stars defeat Ekimogun FC play Akure City in final

Sunshine Stars Football Club yesterday defeated Ekimogun FC 4-1 to qualify for the final of the  2022 FA Cup.

Azeez Ajagbe put Sunshine Stars ahead in the 35th minute of the FA semifinal decided at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure with his beautiful strike.

Both sides continued display of the football artistry to the admiration of the spectators without further goal before the center referee signaled the end of the first stanza of the game.

Sunshine Stars rang some changes at the restart of the game with the introduction of Promise Awosanmi and Cooper Ikenna in place of Ugochukwu Leonard and Brandon.

The Owena Whales pressure paid off in the 65th minute when Ebonam Nwogbada brought down in the opposing 18yards box, and Chigozie Chilekwu stepped in to convert from the spot, extending Stars lead.

Few minutes later, Ekimogun FC player was bundled down in Sunshine Stars box, with Johnson Allen scored from the penalty rebound after the penalty was earlier saved by Mustapha Lawal in the 70th minute.

Ekimogun FC celebration were cut short with another penalty to Sunshine Stars which was  converted by Ejike Uzoechi in the 78th minute. Before Jide Jimoh sealed the victory for the Sunshine Stars in the 85th minute his outside box missile to end the game 4-1 in favour of his side.

Sunshine Stars next slug it out with Akure City Academy which had earlier knocked out Sunshine Stars team B via penalty shootout in the first semi final of the competition.
