EVALUATION:
Using Google Images to check the key frames of the video, as well as the placards and banners held in the video, it was confirmed that the protest occurred in Anambra State in November 2023, not in Lagos.
The video has also been edited with additional audio overlaid onto the original voice, likely aligning with the narrative promoted by the account.
The audio says, “We are tired. We are in pain. Garri is expensive, rice is expensive, petrol is expensive, kerosene is expensive, gas is expensive, cement is expensive, sachet water is expensive, diesel is expensive, sugar is expensive, and bread is expensive. Pepper and semolina are expensive. “
However, additional investigation revealed reports from news agencies such as The Nations, 247ureports, and 9news Nigeria regarding the protest.
The news reports showed that there was a protest in Anambra State on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. The protesters were angry about killings linked to cults in the Awka community, located in Awka South Local Government Area.
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, the post is misleading because the protest occurred in Anambra State, not Lagos State.
