football resumption Football enthusiasts across Nigeria have said they can’t wait any longer to see the round leather game resume to action within and outside the country.
Many of them expressed how bored and lonely they have been without the usual weekend and midweek football activities, especially at the football viewing centers.
World Football governing body (FIFA) had suspended football activities all over the world as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus after notable players contracted the virus.
In an interview with Sporting Hope, an Arsenal and Shooting Stars fan, Toheeb Adeoye said he missed the Gunners “Tiki Taka” style of playing.
According to him, “I missed some of my favourite Arsenal players like Willock, Lacazette, Pierre Aubameyang and others.
“More so, I can’t wait to see Chelsea fans trolling me being an Arsenal fan due to our not too attractive performance in recent seasons”, he said.
On his part, a Manchester United fan, Adebisi Abiodun disclosed that he missed the heated arguments from opposing fans at the viewing center.
“In recent times, football has become my life and soul because that’s where I find solitude to quench my hunger of loneliness and boredom.
“I’m a football fan, not a fanatic: that is why I believe so much in the right of every individuals to support their preferred clubs. Football is a unifying factor that brings all of us together, irrespective of where you came from. That is the major reason I love to watch matches at the viewing centres.
“I pray for a quick end to this deadly coronavirus that has held the world in jugular, so that I can reunite with my old friends at the centre”, Abiodun stated.
Currently, there are several efforts being made by the football governing bodies in England, Germany, Italy and other European nations to see the return of professional football in the countries.
