Farmer dragged to court for alleged assault on man in Ondo

A 36-year old farmer, Lateef Akibu has been arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrate Court over an alleged assault
The defendant appeared before Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu , on a count charge bordering on assault
According to the prosecution, the offence was committed on April 23, 2025 at about 2p.m at Oniparaga community highway Ore, Ondo State
Prosecuting Inspector, Usifoh James , told the court that the defendant inflicted various degree of injury on the left hand of one Adewale Olabisi with broken bottle
The offences, Usifoh said, contravened Sections 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to allow him study the case file and assemble witnesses.
Defence counsel, Mr I. D Eliphus did not oppose application made by the prosecutor, but prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in most liberal term
Ruling on the application, Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till May 16, 2025 for hearing
