Farmer in court for allegedly stealing cocoa beans

A middle-aged farmer, Robert Egbeola has been arraigned before an Iwaro-Oka Magistrate court for stealing cocoa beans.
The police arraigned the defendant before Magistrate B. A Ikusika on one count charge bothering on stealing.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence August 23, 2024 at about 5:00pm at Oke-Owa farmland in Oka-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government area of Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Inspector Boboye Olasunkanmi, told the court that the defendant stole cocoa beans valued N910,000 property of one Olotu Fatai.
The offences contravened Sections 383 of the Criminal, Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Boboye prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and gather his witnesses for trial.
In his ruling, Magistrate B. A Ikusika admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with two sureties in likesum and adjourned the case to April 16, 2025.
