Farmer in court for supplying information to kidnappers

A middle-aged farmer has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over alleged aiding and abetting kidnapping.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged abetting kidnapping by the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), known as ‘Amotekun’ Corps
Prosecuting counsel, P.O. Nwafor told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 8, 2025 at Ago Daada, Ala community in Akure North Local Government area.
Nwafor alleged that the defendant provided crucial information to the kidnappers terrorising people living in the community.
She urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Defence counsel, O. Oladapo, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him reply to the prosecution’s application.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni adjourned the case until May 7 for the defendant’s reply and ordered the remand of the defendant in Amotekun custody.
