As part of activities marking the 40th Convocation ceremonies of the University of Ilorin, former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, is set to deliver the convocation lecture on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
According to a statement by the University Registrar, Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, the lecture titled “The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World” will take place at the University Auditorium by 9:00 a.m., and is expected to attract top dignitaries, academics, students, and members of the public.
Mr. Fashola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and one of Nigeria’s most respected public policy thinkers, is anticipated to bring deep insights into how the emerging Generation Z can adapt to the rapidly evolving world of work and civic responsibility.
The convocation lecture is among the highlights of a week-long programme to celebrate the University’s 40th Convocation, which commenced officially with a World Press Conference by the Vice Chancellor.
Beyond the lecture, President Bola Tinubu, is expected to visit the institution for the commissioning of newly completed University projects, also scheduled for October 22 and 23.
The registrar noted that this year’s convocation will feature ceremonies for graduands of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with cultural performances and a convocation luncheon.
The 40th convocation marks yet another milestone in the history of the University of Ilorin, one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions of higher learning.
