Fayemi assures LG workers of better welfare packages

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has  assured local government workers in the state of a better welfare package.

Fayemi explained that his administration was aware of the problems and challenges confronting NULGE as a body in the country.

The Governor made the remarks at the weekend while playing host to the National President of NULGE, Mr. Ibrahim Khaleel, in his office.

Speaking through his Deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi,  Fayemi said his administration would stick to the dictates of the law in respect of local government matters.

The Governor who expressed confidence in the ability of those appointed to man the affairs of local government system in the State, said they are men and women of proven character and integrity.

Dr. Fayemi, while noting that the union was yet to attain its desired height, assured them of the readiness of his administration to look passionately into their demands, within the purview of the law.

Earlier in his remarks, Mr Khaleel expressed the readiness of his administration to collaborate with the Fayemi administration to move the local government system forward in the state.

Khaleel, who explained that the emergence of Dr. Fayemi as Chairman, Governor’s Forum was a blessing to the Union, said he sees the tenure of Fayemi  as the best time for the federal, state and local governments to sit down in a round table to discuss and resolve the issue of local government once and for all.

He expressed  optimism that the Governor would use his skills, experience and position to resolve the crises of autonomy rocking the union in the country.
