The Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), Dr. Akinyemi Fadimu, has described the institution as an ideal choice for students because the practical nature of its training guarantees instant employment and also prepares students to be self-employed after graduation.
Akinyemi made this assertion while speaking with The Hope at the matriculation of students for the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday.
While stating that education in the college is devoid of interruption occasioned by industrial action, the Provost said that the academic programme of students is a seamless process.

He said, “If students gain admission to our school today, they already know when they will graduate, unlike some other schools where students can be admitted for a four-year course but will end up spending four or five years.
“Likewise, we are registered with the Nigerian Educational Loan Fund of the Federal Government, which enables students to have access to loans to fund their education. Our college is one of the first institutions to be registered under the scheme,” he added.
Addressing the new intake, the Provost informed them that the institution is zero tolerance for indecency and criminal tendencies, adding that they should take advantage of all resources provided in the school to excel in their academic pursuits.

His words: “It is not uncommon today, particularly in our tertiary institutions to witness killing and maiming of colleagues for no just cause except for macho showing and youthful exuberance. Unfortunately, this trend has only caused pain and agony to the families and loved ones of the victims.
“Hence, please note that gangsterism and cultism are seriously frowned upon here and we do not want you to get into this habit. This is a citadel of learning and any act whatsoever that would plunge the college into a crisis of monumental proportion would be fiercely resisted.”

One of the students who spoke with The Hope, Obaya Adewale, said that he chose the institution because he works for an agricultural agency and would love to equip himself with more knowledge for better productivity at work.
Another student, Bayode Precious, said he chose the college because of the practical nature of training there which he believes will give him a good foundation in life.
One of the parents, Mrs. Yetunde Esan, while expressing her excitement, admonished all the new intakes to face their studies squarely, adding that they should be careful with social media.
