Federal Fire Service mobilises for Ondo guber poll

The Federal Fire Service has deployed personnel and equipment to the INEC State Headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, ahead of the forthcoming off-cycle governorship election scheduled for 16 November 2024.

The early deployment, according to the service’s Public Relations Officer, DSF Oshin Abayomi, was made at the request of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner to prevent a recurrence of what occurred during the last off-cycle governorship election, when pre-configured BVAS devices intended for the election were burned overnight. Thanks to the swift response of the Federal Fire Service, Ondo Command, some of the BVAS devices and other INEC facilities were saved.

In line with the Service’s mandate to prevent fire and to protect lives and property, the Acting State Controller, DCF Adeyemo Ariyo, urged the deployed personnel to display professionalism in the discharge of their duties at the INEC Headquarters.
