Nigerians have been  charged to rise up  and  defend their mandate and also  vote  in good leaders who have the passion to implement good policies especially in education and scientific researches.

The Head Of Department (HOD),Food Science and Technology, Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Prof Tunde Oluwalana made this known in an  interview with The Hope in his office.

According to him,the citizens have the  power to change any leader and replace them with those they have confidence in.

Oluwalana said that our choice of leadership affect every sector particularly agriculture.

“There is the need for us to choose leaders that can form good policies, believe in them and implement them. Enforcing policies is germane to the success to any programme. Since the time of  Obafemi Awolowo, many policies has been made on agriculture but the only problem is,we do not have good leaders who have the passion to ensure that this policies are implemented to the letter.

” Leadership and followership problem is the main issue affecting agriculture, as things that should be of common advantage to all are now personalised for selfish interest.

” Our problem is not about leadership but ourselves, we have the mandate to change leaders and put in people we believe in,until then will Nigerians rise up above their challenges” he added.

He implored the government at all level to promote education excellence and also  encourage youth to acquire skill that will make them self reliant.

Oluwalana stressed the importance of electricity in agriculture and food preservation, adding that it could bring about Industrial revolution.
