The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has led a federal government delegation to Agbeyewa Farms in Ipao-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural development, food security, and economic growth in Nigeria.
The visit followed an invitation from John Olajide, Chairman of Cavista Holdings, whose subsidiary, Agbeyewa Farms, has emerged as a leader in agricultural innovation.
At Agbeyewa Farms, the Minister and his team were welcomed by Managing Director Oska Ayeleso, who provided insights into the farm’s operations and its role in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.
The visit aligns with President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to fostering private sector participation in agriculture to drive economic prosperity.
Agbeyewa Farms, recognized for its advanced farming techniques, currently cultivates 1,500 hectares of cassava, making it Nigeria’s largest cassava producer.
During the visit, the Minister toured the expansive fields, which showcase the integration of modern technology and sustainable farming practices aimed at increasing productivity and ensuring long-term food security.

The Minister also reiterated the government’s focus on inclusivity, youth and women empowerment, and poverty alleviation through agriculture.
“Our goal is to ensure that agriculture drives economic growth and provides sustainable job opportunities,” he stated.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ebenezer Boluwade, highlighted that the Minister’s visit marks a significant step in strengthening the state’s partnership with Agbeyewa Farms.
“This initiative aligns with Governor Oyebanji’s vision of job creation and food security through innovative agricultural practices,”he said.
