FG to ease redundant TETFUND capital

Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Institutions Trust Fund TETFUND, Mrs Marian Odinaka Onuoha, has said one of the major aims of President Bola Tinubu is to ensure speedy development of the educational system.

 Onuoha stated this when she led House Committee members on TETFUND and other services to Ondo state, on Tuesday.

She said the purpose of their visit was to oversee and assist states in accessing over N500b in dormant funds earmarked for educational development.

Praising institutions in Ondo State for their effective use of educational trust funds, Onuoha encouraged them to continue utilizing the funds judiciously for various purposes, including physical infrastructure, research, and equipment fabrication.

Additionally, Ifeoluwa Ehindero, representing Akoko North Federal Constituency and a TETFUND committee member, noted that efforts were underway to simplify the stringent measures that institutions face when accessing the funds, to promote swift educational development.

Earlier, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had welcomed the committee members and lauded President Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at transforming the educational sector. He assured that tertiary institutions in Ondo State would access and responsibly utilize the funds.

Present during the visit included the Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, Commissioner for Information Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, Commissioner for Education Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, Special Adviser on Education to the Governor Mrs. Wumi Ilawole, Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, represented by Deputy VC (Administration), Prof. Bisi Daramola, Vice Chancellor of University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Prof. Segun Fatusi, and the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Prof. Segun Olorunwa, among others.
