The final and national fidau prayers for the late Chairman, League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo State, and Secretary-General of the League in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Shaykh Ahmad Olagoke Aladesawe, will hold on October 25.
The Hope had reported that Shaykh Aladesawe, who until his death was also the Grand Imam of Owo, passed on at the age of 91 after a brief illness.
He was laid to rest in Owo according to Islamic rites, with the President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas in Southwest Nigeria, Edo and Delta States, who doubles as the Grand Imam of Ado-Ekiti, leading hundreds of Islamic scholars from across the country at his burial.
The 8th-day fidau prayers had earlier been held in Owo, organised by his family and the Council of Imams in Owo and Ijebu-Owo.
Speaking on the forthcoming national fidau prayers, the Baba Adini of Owo, High Chief Jamihu Ekungba, and the Deputy Chief Imam of Owo, Alhaji AbdurRauf Iwalesin, disclosed that the event will bring together Islamic leaders from across Nigeria.
The leadership of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, alongside national executives of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria and the Ansarul-Islam Society of Nigeria, are expected to participate.
The Organisers also revealed that Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will lead other governors and top political leaders from across the country to honour the late scholar.
Also, the fidau prayers will hold at the playing field of Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Owo, which has been chosen to accommodate the large crowd of dignitaries and worshippers expected.
Ekungba, reflecting on the massive turnout of eminent personalities at the Janazah prayers, expressed the appreciation of the Owo Muslim community and Ondo State Muslims to all the Islamic scholars, dignitaries, and representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) who attended.
