There was pandemonium in Owo town when a fully loaded diesel tanker lorry caught fire and was completely razed down.
The Hope Metro gathered that the fire incident which occured along Dedeigbo Street, Iloro, Owo, started around 4pm and could not be put off until about 9pm, in spite of efforts of fire fighters from the Ondo State Fire Service that responded promptly to distress calls from residents of the street.
Fire fighters with the assistance of kind hearted people around the scene reportedly made spirited efforts to make sure the fire did not spread to nearby buildings.
It was, however, learnt that a vehicle parked near the scene was also razed by the fire, as the owner was not at home when the inferno started.
Our correspondent who was at the scene, learnt that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, as the tanker driver and other passengers in the lorry were no where to be found as at the time of filing this report.
But an eye witness, Mrs Funke Alo, said the truck arrived the street as usual to discharge fuel to power the base station of a telecommunication outfit located on the street.
She said,” the truck arrived as usual, and while it was dispensing, suddenly a spark was noticed around the small pumping generator at the tail it truck.
“And within few seconds, the truck had been engulfed with wild fire that eventually devoured it completely.
However, no human casualty was recorded.
