Flood: Council boss orders strict compliance with sanitation exercise

Following the devastating effects of flood mostly attributed to unwholesome activities causing untold hardship to lives in the council area, the Caretaker Chairman Okitipupa Local Government, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya has ordered strict compliance to the monthly environmental sanitation exercise so as to reduce its impact to the barest minimum.
Abayomi in a statement said the introduction and enforcement of the exercise would help to cushion the effects of flooding and also make the environment safe, clean and free from the outbreak of diseases.
According to him “in view of the recent flooding that has devastated major cities, towns and villages in Okitipupa Local Government, which has caused untold hardships on our people, it is pertinent to note that the much neglected monthly environmental sanitation exercise of every last Saturday is now back and compulsory for all and sundry in order to cushion the effects of flooding and to make our environment clean of dirtiness“.
He added that for total compliance, there shall be restrictions of human and vehicular movement from the hour of 7:00am to 10:00am during the exercise
“Occupants of every houses, Churches, mosques, schools, business premises, motor parks etc are expected to make them clean with clearing and evacuation of drainages in and around the environments, ” he said.
The council boss however appealed to all the citizenry especially the traditional institutions, spiritual heads, drivers union, market women, hospitals and hotels owners, corporate organisations to educate their subjects on the importance and the need to comply with the directive of the local government.
He vowed that defaulters would be prosecuted in accordance with the environmental laws of the state.
