By Fatima Muraina

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, FMARD, has trained its technical officers in Ondo state.

According to the State Coordinator of FMARD, Mr Tony Otuonye, the training which was held in Akure, the State capital, was aimed to equip the technicians on vital and new knowledge in agriculture.

Otuonye explained that some staff who were trained in Abuja were the resource persons who would share knowledge gained with others.

“They are the ones to train farmers so that they could benefit from the knowledge acquired,” he stated.

He urged participants to take the training serious and make it participatory.

The Deputy Director (Scientific), Mrs Olayinka Ajana

said the training would go a long way towards eradicating poverty and hunger which she said is one of the Millennium Development Goals of zero hunger and poverty tolerance.

Ajana observed that the training would improve, develop and add value to agricultural practices in the state.
