Speaking on this year’s theme: “Hijab is our Crown, Not a Crime’, held in Akure, the guest lecturer,  Alhaja Shakirat Omowunmi Aliu charged government to look into areas of victimization which she said still persists in public institutions especially at the secondary schools.

She said wearing of hijab was an act of faith, worship and obedience to the creator which  expresses modesty, pride and as a crown to the user.

According to her, virtues of hijab entail obedience to Allah, chastity, purity which should be guided by the parents from childhood.

She charged parents to inculcate the habit of its usage on their children  and avoid the abuse of it.

Addressing women at the event, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Akorede urged women to be proud of the use of hijab which he said was the commandment of Allah.

While describing hijab  beauty as enormous, Akorede advised parents to patronise muslim schools where their children can imbibe the culture of hijab usage.

The event which witnessed awareness trek, quranic recitation, quiz competition and presentations among  others drew participants from Nasrul-lahi-l-fath, NASFAT, Federal University of Technology FUTA, Muslim students and Answer-ru-deen
