Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Mahrazu Tsiga (retired), alongside several residents of Tsiga village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A resident of the area confirmed the incident to Channels Television via a telephone call on Thursday, stating that the attack took place on Wednesday. Armed with sophisticated weapons, the assailants reportedly stormed the residence of the former NYSC DG, seizing him along with other victims.

Neither the Katsina State Government nor the police have issued an official statement regarding the abduction.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that Tsiga was among those taken by the gunmen. According to sources, the attack, which lasted only a few minutes, left two residents injured, while one of the assailants was inadvertently shot dead by his own colleagues.
