Fraud lands man in court

A 21-year-old man, Adebayo Yinka, has been arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrate Court, over an alleged fraud.
Men of the Ondo State Police Command, arraigned the defendant before Chief Magistrate D. O Ogunfuyi, on a count charge bordering on fraud.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence sometime in the month of December, 2021 in Ore, Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Inspector Usifo James, told the court that the accused fraudulently converted the sum of N350,000 money paid into his Access Bank Account for compensation of injury sustained by one Tosin Adebayo.
The offence contravenes Section 383(2) of the Criminal, Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
When the charge was read, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
Usifo, therefore, sought for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel, Mr Jemine Ebikiri did not oppose the application made by the prosecutor. But he prayed the court to grant his client bail on most liberal terms.
Chief Magistrate D. O. Ogunfuyi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till February 14, 2024, for hearing.
